Tacoma’s lauren.napier returns on Nov. 30th with The Mourning Moon Hangs Quietly, an acoustic interpretation of her early 2021 album Mourning Moon, recorded entirely in her bathtub in one take. The songs are punctuated by lauren reading her poetry. lauren’s music has been described as “gritty and elegant” by New Noise Magazine, and MusicMecca calls napier “a force to be reckoned with.” The Mourning Moon Hangs Quietly finds lauren more contemplative, speaking about song meanings and finding her way through the music piece by piece, the album culminates in an intimate and spare rendition of the album’s closer, “Put It On My Tab,” performed tenderly by cello, before lauren gives a powerful reading of her poems “Contingency Plans” and “What Was Given” as an epilogue to the album. Napier’s new album will be released via streaming, digital download, cassette, and as a bundle with a signature blend of tea and handmade resin tea dish from the Perkasie, PA, fine artist, Waxleaf.

*A Note on the Lathe Cut: 5” discs can’t be played on all turntables. Most tables with auto-return arms will attempt to return the arm before beginning to play the disc. Unfortunately, I can’t accept returns on discs that can’t play on your system! The discs are cut using a toy lathe cutter from Japan, so the quality can vary wildly. They’re extremely neat!
